Welcome to St. Cuthbert’s, a fun loving amateur dramatic society based in Darwen, Lancashire.

Our society was first formed in 1898, so has been, “Providing Entertainment for the Wider Community,” on and off for over 120 years!

As well as organising events for adults, we also encourage young people from our primary school, church organisations, local secondary schools and our community to experience being part of an award-winning performance on stage. As members of NODA we have won several cups and had even more nominations for productions over the years.

Our most recent evolution began in 1998 when we performed our first pantomime of recent years - ‘Jack and the Beanstalk.’ We now perform a pantomime every year and plan other dramas, murder mysteries, theatre visits and quizzes in between.

What We Do

Our big production, usually a pantomime, comes in November. This is a mammoth production and over the years we have had several NODA trophies and even more nominations for various aspects of the pantomime! We arrange theatre visits as appropriate.

We host two quizzes each year. We start off the year with a winter quiz in January or February and come September, we host our second. They are both fun social evenings that aren’t too serious, both include supper and we have a bar.

After Easter, in late spring or early summer, we look to produce either a drama or murder mystery or variety show. Whichever we choose it’s usually a light-hearted affair! Sometimes with a supper and bar again.

Our safeguarding policy is linked to our parish church and details can be found here
